They Left It Out of the Textbooks. We Put It Back.
Where Buried Black History Comes to Light
A growing archive of untold African-American stories — erased heroes, hidden truths, and the patterns of resistance they hoped we’d forget. Each post dives deep into the moments missing from textbooks but crucial to understanding where we are today.

Our Mission
This Is a Space for Truth-Telling
Smart Brown Girl was created to preserve the history that doesn’t always make it into textbooks.
I focus on the stories, policies, and systems that shaped the world we live in — especially the ones that have been overlooked, simplified, or intentionally left out. My work connects the past to the present so people can understand how decisions made years ago still show up in everyday life.
This platform exists to document, explain, and archive. Not just what happened, but why it happened and who it affected.
Because history isn’t just something to remember. It’s something that continues to shape us.
